Hi, I'm Nicholas Schneider, a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nicholas Schneider's Bio:
Nicholas M Schneider is a Doctoral Candidate from the University of Pennsylvania working with Dr. Haim H Bau in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics. Nicholas attended the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering where he was the commencement speaker as he graduated with “highest honors”, receiving concurrent Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in 2010. While there he had a number of Co-ops including a six month stay as a Design Engineer at Lockheed Martin and research positions in the Thermal Analysis and Microfluidcs Lab. His dissertation work is done in close collaboration with Dr. Frances M Ross at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in the field dubbed “in situ liquid cell electron microscopy”. Utilizing a home built liquid cell, the nanoAquarium, they study electrochemistry and the fundamental interaction between the electron beam and the suspending media with applications in energy and nanomanufacturing. Nicholas has received several awards and honors for his work including the John A Goff Award, the MRS Arthur Nowick Graduate Student Award, the Penn Prize for Excellence in Teaching to name a few. Nicholas is finishing up his work this year and will graduate from Penn in May 2015. Outside of the lab, Nicholas Schneider enjoys running ( PR at Philly Marathon of 3hr 40min), cooking, baking, reading, and justifying his coffee addiction by making it a hobby.Research Expertise – In Situ Electron Microscopy, MicroFabrication, Nanotechnology, Fluid Mechanics, Micro/Nanofluidics, Electrochemistry, Quantitative Image Analysis
